I’m currently reading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. This is considered a classic of 20th Century literature. Can someone explain why? It seems to have zero plot. Each chapter is devoted to a character and follows them around for a while. I enjoy the way the book is written, but it’s a hard story to read. I can see how this book influenced other writers like Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett. However, the book is amusing but somewhat pointless. Absolutely nothing happens in the book.
Maybe it all comes together at the end?
Although that book you loaned me by Philip Dick was awful and pointless, I don’t remember the title. Sometimes things get published just by the person having previous hits.
